Bugs & Pirates

Halloween came and went so fast.  It was hard gathering 5 kids for a picture together let alone a decent picture by themselves...

CaptainJackSparrow - Austin says it as one word so I thought I would too.

He actually wanted to wear the awkward, adult-sized mustache and beard.

The lady bugs looked amazing!  Aunt Shawn did a great job picking out these costumes for the twins.

The sweet bumble bee that won the costume contest in her class at school.

This little pirate also won the costume contest in his class.  Cutest pirate.  Ever.

Happy Halloween from the Heflins.

Long Time No Post

Wow, has it really been two months since I last posted something???  To tell you the truth, I have a tiny excuse.  Well, I should say three tiny excuses.  My three nieces have been placed with us for an undetermined amount of time.  Twins, age 3 and a 21 month old make up our household of seven.  Needless to say, things have been a little busy.

To catch you up, Austin has been rocking the kindergarten scene.  He is constantly amazing us with all that he is learning.  He has been in school for almost two months and I still tear up when I drop him off everyday.  I cannot get over how big he is.  He made an "All About Me" poster for open house at school.  When Waylon and I went back for parent/teacher conference, it was displayed in the center of the class since he was the Star Student of the Week.

Austin also had a trip to the dentist recently and he did really well.  I was way more nervous than he was.

Jackson has become the ruler of the house.  I will not deny that he is completely rotten.    Even in the midst of the circus our house has become, he is still the youngest and I think he knows it.  You cannot blink an eye without this kid getting into a child-locked kitchen cabinet, standing up on the coffee table, pushing over a lamp, knocking the girls heads together or pulling all of the diapers out of the diaper cart.  (yes, I have a diaper cart)  I still love every single chubby ounce of this baby.

We had a family get-together for my neices' third birthday recently.  These sweet girls love being around people so really enjoyed their day.

The twins were showered with lots of gifts and love.  It has taken a while to get used to having dresses, purses and the color pink spread throughout our house.  We are blessed to have them in our home for however long they will be here.

I expect that things will only get more interesting from here so stay tuned! ;)

Kindergarten

My baby started kindergarten last week.  I can't seem to grasp the fact that he is officially in school and that five short years ago he came into this world and now I am sending him off into it.  It definitely has been bittersweet for me but he could not be more excited.

This amazing, perfect little boy is going to ROCK kindergarten!

I'm Guilty...

I seem to have been taking more pictures of cookies lately than of my kiddos.  I know; it's bad.

There is so much going on right now since school is starting.  Yes, Austin is starting kindergarten next week and my heart is aching.  I am the type of person that can usually juggle a lot but this has been really hard.  It is a whole new world for me and him.  He is very excited so I am also trying to be also.  I will have more on that in a few days as it gets closer.  In the meantime...

here are my goofballs.

Please ignore my gross fire place in the background.  There's just really no point in glass cleaner when it is Jack's favorite place to be that he's not supposed to.

Jack is walking all over the place now and is also into copying everything Austin does.  Love it.

Happy Birthday Jackson

Jackson Kendell,

On June 14th, 2010, you graced this world and made it a better place.

You are such a sweet, curious and very happy baby.  Right now, you are still trying figure out the walking thing.  I don't think you are in any hurry much like your brother.  You get around just fine crawling or holding on to something.

You have 6 little chompers behind that contagious smile that have caused a nice bruise on Mommy and your first discipline report at school.

You are completely smitten with your big brother.  He adores you too when you are not trying to tackle him or take away whatever he is playing with.  Austin can make you smile just by walking in the room.

You are already a "Momma's boy" and I am not complaining!!  I will hold and squeeze you as long as you will let me.

You are definitely going to be our daredevil.  Unlike Austin, you want to climb everything, jump out of our arms in a second, open every cabinet and put EVERYTHING in your mouth.  Your toddler years are going to keep us on our toes!

Your first birthday was super cute and super hot!!!  One day you will see all of the awesomeness that went into celebrating your first year.

Thank you for all of the joy that you have brought this family.  You are nothing short of amazing and I love you more than words can say.  Happy first birthday!

End of School & Start of Summer

End of School ~ Austin graduated preschool!  I can't believe that he will start kindergarten in the fall.  It makes me so sad but happy for him because he is so excited.

Yes, I must talk to his school about the terrible felt graduation caps.

I made these graduation cap cookies for his class.  Funny thing is that the younger kids who performed at his graduation were dismissed first and they ate all the cookies!!!!  Austin's class never saw them.  Punks.  ;)

Start of Summer ~ We spent Memorial Day weekend in the pool.  We started off at Granny and Papa's house with all of the fam.

My sweet nephew, Connor.

Granny and Jackson

The next day, we headed to Grandpa and Tattie's for more pool fun.

Grandpa and Tattie got Jack his first walking/riding toy.  He is so close to walking as he approaches his first birthday so this is going to help out.

This kiddo loves the water.

We also discovered that he LOVES watermelon.

It's going to be a great summer!
