4th Birthday & Easter

Warning: this is a SUPER long post....

Austin's 4th Birthday Party
His birthday was on Saturday, April 3rd. We didn't have much of a choice on which weekend to have the party due to work/lacrosse schedules so Easter weekend it had to be. Austin wanted a train themed party for his party at the house. I wanted everything to be homemade which was a completely crazy thing to do at almost 7 months pregnant! I wanted to get more pictures of Austin opening presents and the kids having fun but I was so busy. I have a few peeps I am relying on to send more pics to me so I will post them when I get them.

Easter
On Sunday, we somehow managed to get up in time for church. It was totally packed! I forgot that Easter is the only day out of the year that EVERYONE goes to church. Austin really enjoyed "bible class" that day. When we asked him what he learned, he said, "Jesus died. Some 'heoples' liked him and some 'heoples' didn't. The soldiers put nails in his hands and feet." It was a lot of detail for a 4 year old but I am glad he was paying attention!
I didn't have the energy this Easter to make up some story about how the Easter Bunny brought his basket and hid his eggs so we didn't even go there this year. His basket was from Mommy and Daddy and he began to learn the true meaning of Easter at church.

After church and egg coloring, we went to Tattie and Grandpa's. They heated their pool so the kids could swim.

Austin received a bug catching kit for his birthday (thanks Danielle). He was so excited to use it. Two lizards ended up in there throughout the day and some worms for food.

Austin going to release one of the lizards.

Austin did really good during the egg hunt. She scored a lot of money and hard-boiled eggs which I turned into deviled eggs and egg salad sandwiches. YUM-O

Austin and "his Donna" who he is totally obsessed with and loves so much. She helped him with the egg hunt.

School Party
Austin celebrated his birthday with his friends at school on Monday. He wanted a Spiderman theme for this one which was much easier to buy everything for. I thought is was interesting since he has never really watched Spiderman.

I gave them all Spiderman masks and they went crazy! They all started to "fight" each other which is why I don't let Austin watch it. I am sure the teachers hate me now. :)

Erin's Top 10...

...things NOT to say to a pregnant woman (and how I feel about it)

10. "When is your due date (for the 15th time)?" - I know. It looks like I am going to have the baby tomorrow but it is July 1st.
9. "Do you want a boy or a girl?" - Well, let's see...Does it really matter??? I want a boy or a girl.
8. "Wow, you are getting bigger!" - Really? I didn't notice.
7. "You don't have that much longer to go." - Yes I do.
6. From a worker in a drive-thru window, "How far along are you? Are you nervous?"- What?? Don't talk to me. Just give me my burger!
5. "It looks like you are going to have a girl because girls make you get bigger everywhere, like the hips, legs, and face; not just the stomach." - Wow, did you really just say that?
4. "Are you pregnant or do you need to get your a$$ to the gym?" - Yes, someone actually asked me that in those exact words.
3. "How do you feel?" - How do I look?
2. "Are you going to have another one?" - Can I have this one first?
1. "Can I touch your stomach?" - Can I punch you in the face?

In all seriousness, I am grateful to have so many caring people in my life and caring strangers that I meet (on a daily basis). But I will never understand the attraction people have to pregnant women and the constant need to talk to them or touch their stomachs. I really don't mind the questions/comments from my friends or family, but the strangers....

I have never been one that likes the attention that comes with pregnancy and I can't wait until it's over for that reason. I know, I am a horrible pregnant person.

Well, I have to say that this baby boy is huge apparently. I am currently 26 weeks but measuring 31 weeks. I will have an ultra sound on the 12th to determine just how big he is.

Meanwhile, my other baby is going to turn 4 next week! I am not ready for that because then he will turn 5 and then 6. He is doing wonderful however. I will post more later on his latest and greatest.

Our Family Portrait

This is our little family according to my sweet boy. The order is Daddy, Austin, Mommy and his baby brother. He even wrote his name at the top. He writes his "A" as an "H". If he messes up or doesn't like a letter then he just continues right beside it. We were so excited when we first noticed that he could right his name and spell it himself. He recently created a birthday card for his Grandpa and he wrote Happy Birthday, I love you. I just told him how to spell it.

Loving Life

Yesterday morning, Austin got in bed with us around 6am (which is a welcomed rarity). Since both Waylon and Austin are the snuggling type, I found myself sandwiched between them and Baby Heflin was moving constantly. I was completely surrounded by my 3 boys. It was a wonderful and claustrophobic feeling at the same time. :)

According to the doctor, Baby Heflin is really big for 5 months. She has already mentioned 10 lbs as future weight! I sure hope she is wrong. She says that I am also having Braxton-Hicks contractions. She said it is best if I try not to walk or exercise. I am totally okay with the exercise part but walking???? No official bed-rest but I just have to take it easy. Meanwhile, Austin has been such a huge help to me. When we are at the grocery store, he puts everything in the basket, and takes all of the clothes out of the dryer when I am doing laundry. He loves helping out and "being stronger than me."

Here is big brother taking a picture for his birthday party invitation...

Lacrosse is also in full swing. Waylon coaches games every weekend and practice 3 nights a week. Just when I was glad that football season was over, now we are eating, sleeping and breathing lacrosse!

It's a Boy!!!!!

We had an ultrasound on Monday and they confirmed that it is a baby boy. Having a very different pregnancy then I had with Aus was leading me to believe it was a girl, so we were surprised. He was continuously opening and closing his mouth during the ultrasound. It was amazing to see. Below is a profile picture.

I didn't post the gender-identifying picture cause I did want my boy to be "on display". :)

We told Austin the news and he was disappointed at first. He had it in his mind from the beginning that it was a girl and really wanted a sister. After we explained all the cool things he can teach his baby brother, he got excited and asked where the baby was at.

As for me, I am feeling good but I guess I am the clumsiest when I am prego. The other night while at a friend's house for dinner, I was cutting cilantro and took off the top corner of my left middle finger with a knife (including the nail). After a pointless trip to the ER (they only bandaged it), it is feeling better. I have Dr. Waylon at home who helps me wrap it up. I cannot use the finger still. In fact, it is really difficult to type right now. :) Two days later, I stubbed my foot on the closet door. I now have two purple toes that hurt worse than my finger.

After the gender was reveled, it hit me that I am going to have two kids. Not only two kids, but two BOYS! So many emotions and thoughts are coming and going. I have a couple of friends and a sister that has four or more kids and they make it work everyday, so I am not sure what I am nervous about. I guess reality just set in on Monday. Time to get prepared!

We won!!!

Thank you everyone for voting for our photo! We won the contest and are so excited.

Oh, and a quick follow up on the "hooker post"...

Austin asked Waylon the other night if he would put some hookers in his room to hang his art work on. :)
