Night Out

With Waylon and I working so much during the evenings and weekends, it is hard to get time away with our friends or to ourselves. So Friday night, Waylon went with his buddies to a live NFL draft and Saturday night, I went to dinner with my girls, the Pink Ladies. The Pink Ladies are my friends that I worked with at Papa's on the Lake many moons ago. I have to say that college was awesome but my Papa's days were the very best! Over the last 8 years, our dinners started out monthly and have drifted to a few times a year. The majority of us are married or have kids so it is difficult to get us all together. We missed you Cassie and Eva!

I love you girls!!!!!

Bysketchers

I knew the day would come when Austin wanted to pick out his own clothes or shoes. The day has come! There is a little boy in his class, Braydon, who Austin calls "Draydon". He recently got some new Sketchers. Some how or another, Austin has been calling them "bysketchers". If If I call them Sketchers or shoes, he corrects me and says they are bysketchers. He has been talking about these for over a week. I recently took him shopping for shoes and he wanted nothing but bysketchers. It was frustrating because I had no idea what these darn things looked like. He did say that they had a "number" on them.

I was dropping him off at school on Monday and he said, "Mom, member to look at Draydon's bysketchers." I hunted Braydon down and took a good look at his shoes. I am not really fond of black tennis shoes or shoes with characters on them but these aren't that bad. After looking on the Internet, I found them on sale at Sears and sure enough there is a big "S" on the side of them. We went that afternoon (I had to give in because it was so freaking cute and he really needed a pair of shoes for school!) I have never seen him so excited! When you child tries on a pair of shoes and screams, "YEAHHHH!" in the middle of the store, you know you made the right decision. As soon as we got home, he put them on, wore them with his PJ's and to bed. He woke up not long after falling asleep and said that his feet were hot. I took off the shoes but he wanted them to lay right next to him. He is so proud of his bysketchers.

Quick Update

Things have been pretty busy around the here. Waylon has been working really long hours and I also have been working more nights. Our weekends are also jam-packed with tons of stuff. This weekend we had two birthday parties. One was for my nephew, Anthony and the other was for Austin's friend, Daniella. Austin geared up early for Daniella's party which was at Chuck E Cheese on Sunday.

This cup is a genius idea

Samantha, Daniella and Austin

Daniella and Samantha will be moving to Canada in a few days. They are the daughters of my friend and co-worker, Kerri. Austin has become so close with these girls as they have been around him since he was a baby. He calls them his sisters.
Fernandez Girls, we love you and are going to miss you so very much!

Garage Sale

We did a last minute garage sale last weekend. (thank you honey!) Austin was actually a huge help. He and I went through every room in the house and put everything aside that we wanted to sell. He helped me carry everything downstairs and then into the garage. He also provided great customer service! It was a little tricky trying to convince him that some of his toys were going to be sold. In the end, we kept reminding him that he would get a cut of the profit for his piggy bank.

I have a love-hate relationship with garage sales. I really don't mind having them or even setting up for them but I am such a softy when it comes to prices. If you want something for next to nothing, come to my next garage sale! BTW, I sold 19 pairs of my shoes!

New Juice!

So Austin loves juice and I probably give him more than I should but oh well. I used to give him the Roaring Water Capri Suns (half the sugar of regular Capri Suns - 9 grams). I have made the switch to Minute Maid Fruit Falls. They have LESS THAN 1 GRAM of SUGAR and only 5 calories. He does drink water but he needs a little flavor sometimes and I hate water so I guess I have ruined him. Anyhow, instead of a juice box, grab one of these. Minute Maid should be paying me...

Fun stuff

Austin has a huge bag of blocks that he plays with regularly. One night he asked me to look at the "horsies" that he made. I could not believe it. All I could think was, my kid is a genius!!! I know...I know...but I am his Mom and I am allowed to think that. He makes them all the time and is very particular about the blocks and colors that he uses. I am still not sure how he learned to do that.

Last night the horsies were pulling a wagon and two people were driving it. Pretty clever....

We took him to see his first movie at the theater. We saw Ice Age or as Austin calls it, "scrat". As the previews were playing it was really quiet and then you hear Austin say, "Mommy, where's the remote?" That was awesome. He liked the movie and it was a fun experience for him. I highly recommend movies around 11am on Sunday. We only paid $10 for all 3 of us!

So after Austin hears someone burp, we often hear him say, "cochino" and then he tells them to say excuse me. My Spanish is a little rusty so I looked it up and it means dirty or filthy. I am guessing that his teachers are saying it at school when a kid burps. Little do they know that my kid picked it up and remembers it. He even says it with the proper Spanish accent.

Discovery Green

Aunt Lendi and I took Jake and Austin to Discovery Green (my new favorite place) on the morning of the 4th. I totally love it there. The boys had a great time playing in the water. There is so much for them to do and see but we did not get to it all. If you decide to go out there, go early!
